Used Bike Size Checklist

If the seller only says “54” or the size sticker is missing, confirm the exact model before choosing a chart. Take this checklist, a tape measure and your riding shoes to the viewing.

Bike / year / size:

Identify the exact model, year and generation

Trek’s serial-number guide points to a barcode sticker under the frame near the bottom bracket. Giant lists several serial-number locations, including the seat tube, under the top tube, around the bottom bracket and the left rear dropout.

A family name can span different geometry and labels. Trek’s Madone Gen 8 FAQ explains its move from numeric sizes to letter sizes. Check the model, version and market notes for our tables before using them for an older bike.
